Project: Veggie Box

EOSTA a company specialized in the distribution and trade of organic fruits and vegetables wanted to launch a meal kit that would be sold in supermarkets. It was important to them for the packaging to be unique and sustainable, meaning a low footprint and to produce minimal waste.

Analysis

In our journey to redesign the conventional meal kit box, we had to start with reasearching the current market offerings found in supermarkets. What we discovered was a landscape saturated with 'boring' designs that did little to inspire or engage the consumer.

A significant gap in sustainability was evident, with some meal kit boxes containing up to 13 individual plastic bags.

Furthermore, most these packages would fail in protecting their contents; vegetables often arrived bruised which would lead to moulding.

Final product

Our final product utilizes an auto-lock bottom making it fast and easy to fold the box, cutting down on labour cost.

It has customisable modular dividers inside protecting the vegetables and fruits inside. Different kits will have different kinds of fruits and vegetables coming in different sizes, hence the importance of the modular design.

During our analysis we found that the consumer found it very important to be able to see the contents of the box and making sure the fruits and vegetables are in good condition. Therefore the design has cut-outs in the shape of the company's logo.
